Here is a simple recipe that can be made in a short time and can be served as a quick lunch.
2 cups of broccoli florets
2 to 3 tbsp olive oil
6 cloves garlic
2 inch cinnamon
2 tsp cayenne pepper/ 1 tbsp chilli powder
4 ounces or about 120 gm rice
water( to boil rice)
1 tsp chilli flakes(optional)
1 tbsp dried basil flakes
a pinch of turmeric powder(optional)
In a boiling dish, add olive oil, garlic , cinnamon and chilli flakes. Fry till the oil becomes fragrant with the spices. Add broccoli florets and stir fry for 3 minutes. Add rice, water (just enough to boil the rice), and cook on a high flame until it comes to a full boil, and simmer it down. To this add salt, turmeric(optional), basil flakes, chilli powder and stir. When the water is reduced, cover and cook till the rice is fluffy and tender. Let it stand for 5 minutes before serving.
